1. Who we are

QuoteMyRoof ("QuoteMyRoof," "we," "us," or "our") is a roofing quote facilitation service operating in Virginia and West Virginia. We operate the website at quotemyroof.org and any related subdomains (the "Service").

Our service is simple: we collect information about your home and roofing project, solicit quotes from vetted licensed roofing contractors in your area on your behalf, evaluate those quotes based on price, warranty terms, and contractor reviews, and send you the best result. We are not a roofing contractor ourselves.

2. Information we collect

2a. Information you provide directly

When you submit a quote request through our quiz, we collect:

• Contact information: First and last name, email address, phone number
• Property information: Street address, city, state, ZIP code
• Property details: Property type, roof area (square footage), roofing material, roof pitch, number of existing shingle layers, project scope (replacement, new construction, insurance claim, inspection)
• Project preferences: Desired material, quality tier, color preference, special features, timeline, gutter needs
• Any other information you choose to provide in optional fields

2b. Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect:

• IP address and approximate geographic location
• Browser type and version, operating system
• Pages visited, time spent, referring URL
• Date and time of your quiz submission

2c. Information we derive

We may use your property address to retrieve publicly available satellite or aerial imagery to estimate your roof's square footage more accurately for contractor quoting purposes.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To fulfill your quote request: Sharing your project details (but not your contact information) with vetted contractors to obtain pricing and warranty terms
• To evaluate and deliver your quote: Comparing contractor responses and sending you the best result, along with that contractor's contact information
• To communicate with you: Sending a confirmation email when you submit your request, and delivering your quote results
• To verify service area eligibility: Confirming your property is located within Virginia or West Virginia
• To improve our service: Analyzing aggregated, de-identified usage patterns to improve the quiz experience and contractor matching
• To comply with legal obligations: Maintaining records as required by applicable law

We will not use your information for any purpose that is incompatible with the above without your prior consent.

4. How we share your information

We share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Project details with contractors (not contact information): When soliciting quotes, we share your property details and project specifications — but not your name, email, or phone number — with licensed contractors in your area.
• Service providers: We may share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our website or delivering our service (for example, email delivery services, analytics providers), under strict contractual confidentiality obligations.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
• Business transfers: If QuoteMyRoof is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information.

5. Data retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. In general:

• Active lead records are retained for up to 24 months from the date of submission
• After 24 months, personal contact information (name, email, phone) is deleted or anonymized
• Anonymized and aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes

You may request deletion of your information at any time by contacting us at the address below.

6. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit (HTTPS), restricted access controls, and regular security reviews.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and we encourage you to use strong, unique passwords and to notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized access to your information.

7. Your rights

Regardless of your location, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information (subject to certain legal exceptions)
• Opt-out of communications: Unsubscribe from emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any message we send you, or by contacting us directly

8. Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA)

If you are a resident of Virginia, you have additional rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (Va. Code Ann. § 59.1-575 et seq.), effective January 1, 2023:

• Right to know: You have the right to confirm whether we are processing your personal data and to access that data
• Right to correct: You have the right to correct inaccuracies in your personal data
• Right to delete: You have the right to request deletion of personal data you have provided or that we have collected
• Right to data portability: You have the right to obtain a copy of your personal data in a portable, readily usable format
• Right to opt out: You have the right to opt out of the processing of your personal data for purposes of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or profiling. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising or profiling as defined under VCDPA.

To exercise your VCDPA rights, submit a request to privacy@quotemyroof.org with the subject line "VCDPA Rights Request." We will authenticate your identity and respond within 45 days (extendable by an additional 45 days with notice). If we deny your request, you have the right to appeal by contacting us, and if the appeal is denied, you may contact the Virginia Attorney General at oag.state.va.us.

9. West Virginia privacy rights

West Virginia has enacted the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act and related statutes that govern data practices. While West Virginia does not yet have a comprehensive consumer data privacy law equivalent to Virginia's VCDPA, we extend all the same rights described in Section 8 above to residents of West Virginia as a matter of policy.

We will update this section promptly if West Virginia enacts new data privacy legislation that applies to our service.

10. Children's privacy

Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@quotemyroof.org and we will delete such information from our records.

11. Cookies and tracking

Our website may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve your experience. Specifically, we may use:

• Essential cookies: Necessary for the website to function (e.g., remembering your quiz progress)
• Analytics cookies: To understand how visitors interact with our site (e.g., Google Analytics or similar). This data is aggregated and anonymized.
• Advertising cookies: If you arrived via a Meta (Facebook/Instagram) advertisement, Meta may place a pixel cookie to measure ad effectiveness. This cookie is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain functionality of our website. We do not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals at this time.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated effective date, and by sending an email notification to users who have submitted a quote request if the changes materially affect how we handle their data. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
